What does a Senior Move Manager actually do?

A Senior Move Manager coordinates every part of a later-life move so the family doesn't have to. That includes a customized downsizing plan, sorting and labeling, hiring and supervising the moving crew, arranging donations and disposal, packing and unpacking, and setting up the new residence so the first night feels like home, beds made, kitchen functional, photos on the walls. We are not a moving company. We are the project manager who makes sure the moving company, the estate sale, the donation pickup, the cleaners, and the family are all rowing in the same direction.

How is this different from hiring a moving company?

Movers move boxes. We manage the entire transition, emotional, logistical, and physical. A typical mover shows up on moving day, lifts what is in front of them, and drives away. We are involved weeks before, on moving day, and the day after. We make sure your mother's reading lamp is on her side of the bed and her medications are in the same drawer they were in at her old house.

How much does this cost?

Every project is scoped in the free 15-minute consultation because no two transitions are alike. You will receive a written estimate before any work begins. No surprises, no hourly meter.

How far in advance should we call?

Six to eight weeks is ideal, but we routinely take on moves with two weeks' notice, and in genuine emergencies (a hospital discharge, a CCRC opening up unexpectedly) we have completed full transitions in under seven days. Call as soon as the move is on the table, even if no decisions have been made.

Do you work with out-of-state families?

Constantly. Roughly half of our clients are adult children living outside Florida, coordinating a parent's move from another state. We do the in-person work, send daily photo updates, and keep you in the loop without making you book another flight.

What happens to the items my parent doesn't take?

We coordinate the entire downstream: estate sale or auction referrals for valuable items, vetted donation partners for serviceable goods, family-shipping logistics for heirlooms going to grandchildren, and responsible disposal for everything else. Nothing gets thrown away without your sign-off.

Do you handle moves involving memory loss or dementia?

Yes. Memory care moves require a different pace, a quieter environment on moving day, and careful attention to recreating familiar arrangements at the new residence. We slow down, we communicate with the receiving community's care team, and we work closely with the family on what to keep visible and what to store.
