Helpful Moving Tips: Moving Household Plants

Nothing makes a home feel more welcoming and alive than houseplants. If you are anything like us, your plants are part of the family, a member you can't part with very easily and need to move with you.

We understand it can be challenging to move with plants to another home when the time comes. Proper packing will make sure they arrive healthy and intact. Pack them last and unpack them first, so they stay happy.

Five tips that keep your plants thriving through the move.

    1. Place a plastic bag over the pot and tie it at the base to keep the soil contained.
    2. Tape the bottom of the box well, then place the plant inside.
    3. Fill in extra space with packing paper or newspaper so the plant is secure but can still breathe.
    4. Poke holes in the box to allow for air flow, a few holes on each side is plenty.
    5. Label the box "LIVE PLANT" and "FRAGILE" so anyone handling it knows to be gentle and to keep it upright.

    One more thing.

If you have specialty items, plants, art, instruments, heirlooms, that you're nervous about moving, that's exactly the kind of detail we handle for the families we work with. A short consultation will tell you what to pack yourself, what to hand off, and what needs a specialist.
